The collision occurred Thursday evening in Saint-Thomas, near Joliette.

Brigitte Dion, 51, lost her life in the evening in Saint-Thomas, close to Joliette, in a head-on collision.

Our knowledge indicates that she is the daughter of her brother Clément Dion and the niece of Quebec singer Céline Dion.

Two grandchildren and a daughter belonged to Ms. Dion.

The news started to circulate on social media in the early afternoon.

Yesterday evening at approximately 6:15 p.m., a car on the Rang de la Grande Chaloupe veered out of its lane on the Rang de la Grande Chaloupe for an unidentified reason and ended up travelling in the wrong direction.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, this manoeuvre resulted in a collision with a car that was moving in the other lane. Then the other two were struck by a third car.

One of the two cars involved in the first crash was driven by Ms. Dion, who lived on the same row less than two kilometres away. It was a white Mini Cooper.

He was declared dead on the scene. As a precaution, the drivers of the other two cars were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

For a portion of the evening, the SQ kept the row closed as it looked into what may have caused this collision.
